Brow Lift

Brow lift rejuvenates the upper face, addressing heavy brows, "hooded eyes," or age-related changes.

How should I prepare for Brow Lift?

A brow lift, also known as an eyebrow lift, is a cosmetic procedure designed to alter the position of your forehead, reduce wrinkles and creases, and provide a more youthful appearance. If the passage of time or gravity has changed the appearance of your forehead, making you appear serious, angry, or tired, you may want to consider a brow lift.

While this procedure offers permanent results, mild wrinkles, and creases may gradually return over time.

Preparing for a Brow Lift:

Before undergoing an eyebrow lift, your surgeon will provide you with all the necessary pre-operative instructions. Some of these instructions may include:

  • Quitting smoking at least six weeks before the surgery.
  • Limiting alcohol consumption.
  • Avoiding certain medications such as aspirin.
  • Growing your hair long to cover your incisions.
  • Arranging a driver to take you home after the procedure.
  • Ensuring you have someone available to care for you on the first night and day after the surgery.

A brow lift can transform your appearance, offering a refreshed and youthful look by addressing forehead issues and reducing wrinkles and creases. Discuss with your surgeon which eyebrow lift method suits your needs best, and embark on the journey to a rejuvenated forehead.

What are the benefits of Brow Lift?

Aging can be both a blessing and a curse, affecting people differently. How you age can have a significant impact on your body, especially on your appearance. Over the years, our skin undergoes changes due to various factors such as collagen loss and exposure to UV radiation, leading to sagging and the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles on the forehead and around the eyebrows.

These changes can make you look tired or angry. An eyebrow lift can help address such issues. Today, we’ll explore the benefits of a brow lift and how you can get started.

  1. Restores Your Natural Brow Arch: A brow lift helps you regain your natural brow arch, the shape and contour it had in your younger years. In particular, sagging skin in specific areas can affect the appearance of your eyebrows, making them seem heavy and causing them to lose their shape.
  2. Eliminates Excess Skin: A notable benefit of a brow lift is its skin-tightening effect. Skin is prone to wrinkling due to factors like UV exposure. To combat this, laser resurfacing is one of the treatments available. This process is aimed at smoothing out wrinkles and fine lines on your skin. It involves using a carbon dioxide (CO2) laser to achieve this.
  3. Reduces Upper Eyelid Sagging: The eyelids are an area significantly affected by skin sagging due to aging. Drooping can impair your vision and pull your eyelids downward. When the skin starts to sag, the upper eyelids are particularly prone to this issue. The outer corners of your eyes often show this particular concern, as they are likely areas where wrinkles and creases appear. This is what’s known as crow’s feet. These lines, used to be concealed through makeup, can be addressed by brow lift surgery, especially when accompanied by preventive post-treatment habits.
  4. Diminishes Forehead Lines: Another advantage of a brow lift is the reduction of forehead lines. The forehead is an area prone to lines and wrinkles due to the natural aging process. This is also one of the more prominent signs of aging. To maintain a youthful appearance, it’s necessary to rid yourself of lines and wrinkles on the forehead. The best way to address forehead lines and wrinkles is through skin tightening. Its effect can yield the desired results. Many treatments can help you achieve this goal.
  5. Helps Open Up Your Eyes: One area that’s affected by sagging and wrinkles is your eyes. The skin around them can impact your vision by making it somewhat hazy. Additionally, it can make the skin around your eyes appear relatively heavy. With treatment, you can help pull back the skin, elevating your eyelids. It also assists in making your eyes appear brighter and your overall look more youthful and energetic.

Results of Brow Lift

There are three different methods of eyebrow lift:

  1. Classic brow Lift: Also referred to as an “open brow lift” or “coronal lift,” this method involves a continuous incision from ear to ear across the top of your head. To address an elevated forehead, your surgeon may recommend an incision along your frontal hairline. If your hair is too long and obstructs this procedure, you may need to trim it. Conversely, if your hair is shorter, you may need to allow it to grow to cover the incisions.
  2. Endoscopic brow Lift: The endoscopic lift involves several smaller incisions in your scalp. Your surgeon inserts an endoscope (a thin tube with a camera attached) through one of the incisions to visualize your tissues and muscles on a monitor while using another device placed in a separate incision to make the necessary adjustments. In this method, the surgeon secures your tissues with temporary or permanent sutures or anchors beneath the scalp. As the incisions are smaller, this technique is less invasive, resulting in minimal scarring and a shorter recovery time.
  3. Limited Incision Technique: The limited incision technique is a combination of the classic and endoscopic lifts. Your surgeon creates smaller incisions but doesn’t use an endoscope. This method doesn’t modify the center of your forehead but reduces the wrinkles and creases at the corners of your eyes (crow’s feet).

While you may expect some mild swelling and slight bruising for up to two weeks after an endoscopic brow lift, you can also look forward to immediately witnessing a more youthful brow contour, brighter, more open eyes, and smoother, rejuvenated skin. The results of your brow lift can potentially last for many years, and you can extend their longevity by using sunscreen, maintaining a nutrient-rich diet, staying hydrated, and avoiding tobacco use.

In cases of severe forehead sagging leading to excessive upper eyelid drooping, an eyebrow lift may be performed in conjunction with eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty). Additionally, if you desire comprehensive facial rejuvenation, a brow lift can be done simultaneously with a facelift.
